interactive application design, 2009/2010

the interactive application visualizes the principles of a four-stroke otto engine. it is divided into four animations starting with the combustion of octane, proceeding with the operation of the engine, the function of the four different strokes and finally the chemical filtering in the catalytic converter of a car.

the application is based on two different sections: the main section in which the user can navigate through with five different buttons and the section that shows complementary information. it is shown on a second display and is supposed to depict the combustion cycle using illustrative comparisons. one of the main focus of this project was the navigation via zooming in and out.

to cover the conventional 24 inch computer monitor we designed and built a metal case. the navigation-buttons were made of aluminium as well.
